Immigration to Canada under Entrepreneur (Business) Class

This immigration category is designed for those individuals who have entrepreneurial or business management skills and who wish to start their own business in Canada while enjoying the benefits attached with Canadian Immigration. The approved applicants are given a permanent resident card that is a right to remain in Canada with all available benefits.

Entrepreneur means a foreign national who

  1. has business experience;
  2. has a legally obtained minimum net worth of $300,000; and
  3. provides a written statement to an officer that they intend and will be able to meet the conditions listed below:

Business experience in respect of an entrepreneur, means a minimum of two years of experience consisting of two one-year periods of experience in the management of a qualifying business and the control of a percentage of equity of the qualifying business during the period beginning five years before the date of application for a permanent resident visa and ending on the day a decision is made on the application.

Minimum net worth means in respect of an entrepreneur, $300,000.

Applicable Time:

The entrepreneur must meet the conditions for a period of at least one year within the period of three years after the day on which the entrepreneur becomes a permanent resident.

 
   
Conditions (On Visas) :

Conditions:
An entrepreneur who becomes a permanent resident must meet the following conditions:

  • the entrepreneur must control a percentage of the equity of a qualifying Canadian business equal to or greater than 33 1/3 per cent;
  • the entrepreneur must provide active and on-going management of the qualifying Canadian business; and
  • the entrepreneur must create at least one incremental full-time job equivalent in the qualifying Canadian business for Canadian citizens or permanent residents, other than the entrepreneur and their family members.
 
   
Requirement to have minimum necessary funds:

You will need to provide proof of your available funds in order to support yourself and your family for a minimum of six months in Canada.
The amount of money you need to support your family is determined by the size of your family. These amounts are updated every year.

Criminal and security checks:

If you have a criminal record, you may not be allowed to enter Canada. People who pose a risk to Canada’s security are not allowed to come to Canada either. If you want to immigrate to Canada, you and any family members over the age of 18 who come to Canada with you must provide police certificates to the visa office.

ADVANTAGES OF APPLYING AS A BUSINESS IMMIGRANT

1. A permanent residence visa for the complete family unit and a right to apply for a Canadian citizenship after a period of three years.
2. There are no strict requirements like age, education, English language etc. You may be of any age, may not have a higher education or may not even speak fluent English but you would still qualify for immigration if you have a business management experience and you promise to start a business in Canada.
3. You do not need to present any business plan to the Government of Canada before you land in Canada.
4. Once you land in Canada as a Permanent Resident, you would have three years to start a business and to fulfill your promise you made with the Canadian Government.
5. There is no such requirement to make a minimum investment. You can start a new business or buy an existing business in Canada with minimum amount of investment as minimum as $100,000.
6. You may sponsor your relatives such as parents, brothers, sisters etc.
7. Once become a Canadian citizen, you may travel to U.K, U.S.A, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and most of other countries without the need of a visa.
