Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program for Business Immigration :
Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program for Business Immigration (MPNP-B)
Program Eligibility
The Province of Manitoba and Government of Canada share responsibilities regarding business people immigrating to Canada through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program for Business.
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program for Business allows Manitoba to recruit and nominate qualified business people from around the world who have the intent and ability to move to Manitoba and establish, purchase a business or become partners in an existing business.
To qualify for the program, applicants are assessed on the following criteria:
Minimum personal net worth of CDN$350,000.
Minimum amount of equity investment in Manitoba of CDN$150,000.
Demonstrated business ownership experience or a minimum of 3 years experience in a senior management role of a successful company. In a partnership situation, the applicant must have a minimum of 33 1/3 shares and play an active management role in the business.
Conducted an exploratory visit to Manitoba to investigate business opportunities and Manitoba's quality of life for a minimum of 7 days. Please download and view the Guide to Making an Exploratory Visit to Manitoba (89 KB).
Following approval of your application you will be required to make a $75,000 cash deposit to the Government of Manitoba, guaranteeing the establishment or purchase of a business in Manitoba. The cash deposit will be refunded to you when the investment is made, and the intended business is undertaken as outlined in your application.
If you meet the above criteria, an exploratory visit to Manitoba (for a minimum of 7 days) is mandatory and is the first step in the MPNP-B application process.
If you are accepted for nomination by the Government of Manitoba, you will be provided with a Certificate of Nomination and instructions on how to submit the appropriate documents and federal processing fees to a Canadian Immigration visa office that services your area.
Cash Deposits
A main requirement of the MPNP-B is that the immigrant must invest in a business in Manitoba and undertake an active role in management of the business. To further emphasize this point, a Cash deposit of $75,000.00 CAD is required by all approved applicants under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program of Business Immigrants (MPNP-B).
Particulars
When an applicant has been approved under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program for Business Immigrants (MPNP-B), a letter of approval is sent to the applicant (and consultant or lawyer if applicable). The letter contains a cash deposit agreement (contract) outlining the requirements of the MPNP-B and is to be signed and dated by the applicant. Federal documents to be completed for the applicable embassy and the instructions for the applicant to wire their cash deposit in the amount of $75,000.00 CAD for the MPNP-B.
This cash deposit is refundable upon completion of the requirements of the Cash Deposit Agreement (contract) with MPNP-B. The funds will be held by Manitoba Industry, Economic Development and Mines (MPNP-B) for a period of two years from the date of landing, usually giving the immigrant adequate time to establish a business. Extensions will be considered on a case by case basis.
No interest will be paid on the deposit. Interest earned on deposits is used to fund program resources, including the establishment of a Business Settlement office.
