Immigrant Entrepreneur Category

Immigrant Entrepreneur Criteria

  • A minimum net worth of $400,000.Willingness to invest a minimum of $200,000 to establish a new enterprise (or to purchase no less than 33% of an existing business).A business plan or ”Business Capacity” document to demonstrate that the Immigrant Entrepreneur has the capacity to establish a successful business in the Prince Edward Island business environment.Payment of a $100,000 business investment deposit, which is held in escrow and returned to the applicant after one year’s residency and the establishment of the business;Immigrant Entrepreneurs are also required to place $25,000 in escrow with the Government of PEI as a good faith deposit. This deposit also gets returned after applicant has resided for one year in PEI.Immigrant Entrepreneurs (Partners) whose capacity in English or French is insufficient to be interviewed in that language are required to place $20,000 in escrow with the Government of PEI. This language deposit will be returned, should the applicant demonstrate moderate language skills, in English or French, after arrival in PEI. A combination of age, education, language skills and transferable management skills. The ideal candidate to the PEI PNP is/has:
    • less than 55 years of age;a minimum 14 years of education, including one (or more) post-secondary certificates or degrees;capable of being interviewed in English or French;
    • has several years of management (or, preferably, business ownership) experience in a sector with relevance to the PEI economy.
  • PEI will accept applicants who are not yet able to speak English or French - some of our finest applicants fall into this category - but lack of skills in one of these languages must be offset by strengths in education or transferable management skills. Similarly, exceptional transferable management skills may offset a lack of post-secondary education.

 

 
   

Immigrant Partner Criteria Detail

If you achieve 50 or more points on the self-assessment, we encourage you to continue, with the process of applying as an Immigrant Partner under the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program.All applications submitted to the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program office must follow the standard format and be complete. If the applicant is using an Agent, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Office must authorize the Agent.

Agent Authorization

Immigration Agents who are representing an applicant to the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program must be:

  • Member in good standing of the Canadian Society for Immigration Consultants (CSIC) Lawyers who are members in good standing of a Canadian law society and students-at-law under their supervision Notaries who are members in good standing of the Chambre des notaries du Quebec and students-in-law under their supervision.
  • All Immigration Agents must register and be approved by the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Office prior to submission of application.

 Immigrant Partner Criteria Summary

  • Have a minimum net worth of $400,000.00 Canadian dollars Use an Investment Intermediary approved by the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program Make a $200,000.00 Canadian dollars investment by way of preferred shares in an eligible Prince Edward Island company Become a director or senior management employee in the investee company (see “Immigrant as director or senior manager” under Investment Promotion and Matchmaking) Make a Good Faith Deposit of $25,000.00 Canadian dollars to be held by the Province of Prince Edward Island, to be returned on evidence of one year's residency in Prince Edward Island. Ideal applicant is between the ages of 21 and 49 and no older than 55 Have a minimum 12 years of education (high school) Have at least five years of management or business ownership experience in a sector with relevance to the Prince Edward Island economy.
  • Have Language skills capable of being interviewed in English or French and if not must be prepared to make a Language Deposit of $20,000.00 Canadian dollars, held by the Province of Prince Edward Island to be returned on evidence of one year’s residency and a moderate level of proficiency in speaking, reading, writing and listening in English and/or French has been reached.

 Application Fee
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Immigrant Partner processing fee is $2,500.00 Canadian dollars. This fee is made payable to Island Investment Development Inc. in the form of a certified cheque, money order or bank draft

If the file is declined prior to interview stage, $2,000.00 of the $2,500.00 processing fee will be returned to the principal applicant. Once an invitation to an interview letter is issued for a principal applicant the $2,500.00 processing fee becomes non refundable.

 

 

 
   

Immigrant Connections Category

Family Connections Eligible family to nominate or sponsor includes:

  • Daughter or SonBrother or SisterNiece or NephewAunt or UncleGrandchildFirst cousin or
  • Step relative or in-law of the same level

Qualifying Criteria for Champions

“Champions” eligible to nominate “Connections” to Prince Edward Island require the following

  • Be a Canadian citizen or a Permanent Resident who has lived in Prince Edward Island for more than two yearsHave a regular source of income sufficient for their needs and their dependents Have a generally unblemished personal history.
  • Testimonials from other Prince Edward Island residents or evidence of volunteer work or community service are beneficial but not essential.

The Champion will make an informal, but written commitment, that they will take every possible action to ensure that the nominee is integrated into the Prince Edward Island community.
